PCA Chemical Peels stimulate the production of elastin and collagen

Chemical Peels are a form of skin rejuvenation and skin resurfacing that utilize exfoliation. The key to firm and glowing skin (and anti-aging in general) is exfoliation. Removing superficial dead skin cells and damaged layers of the epidermis is what ultimately improves the skin’s tone and texture because this activity stimulates the production of healthy elastin and collagen.

Chemical Peel treatments work well in combination with other treatments, such as the silk peel treatments and photorejuvenation.

At Dermedica, we use PCA (Physician’s Choice of Arizona) and Dermaquest Peel systems. These two popular systems provide the most active and beneficial pharmaceutical ingredients and enable us to offer our clients a variety of customized treatment protocols, based on various skin conditions. Chemical Peels can treat:

  • Aging skin
  • Age spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin discoloration and hyper-pigmentation
  • Acne and acne scaring
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Rosacea

Whatever your condition, chemical peels provide total rejuvenation.

How Chemical Peels Work

Chemical peels repair, rebuild and renew cells by shedding the most superficial epidermal layer of the skin. This allows deeper layers of the skin to reproduce new collagen under the surface of the epidermis.

Chemical peels can be used on the face and body (neck, back, shoulders, etc).

What to expect after a Chemical Peel treatment

You will become photosensitive after a peel treatment so be sure to avoid direct sun exposure for a few days after a treatment. It is a good idea to wear sun screen during your course of treatments to prevent sun damage.

You will experience light flaking usually 2-3 days after your peel. It means that dead skin cells are coming off of your face. This is exactly what you want the peel to do. Your certified esthetician will also recommend a home care skin regime for your particular skin type to take home and use during your peel treatments.

It is also recommended not to wash your face for up to 24 hours after a peel treatment and avoid the gym, saunas or hot tubs after a peel treatment.

You can resume to normal activity after the 24 hour period.
